The Bukit Gambang Resort City

The Bukit Gambang Resort City...

'Resort City' is such a big name for this place, thus it did not  fit perfectly 'yet' in this term.  My three days and 2 nights stay could be consider a bad experience. It all started with a 'heat and sweaty' first night. One of the air conditioner of my 2 bedrooms apartment was not function. The maintenance only responded after two phone called through my mobile phone. Yes...through my mobile phone... since the apartment's phone line was informed as having a problem. Then the experience started to get worst as the next morning...the was no water supply. But sadly, the Resort seem to respond as it was a normal 'thing' when the complaint was made:

'Ya...N3 memang sedang ada masalah air. Maintenance kami sedang baiki.'

Wow...what a 'good comforting word' from their front office. No apologising for the 'uncomfortable' situation.

Lastly, there was no house keeping service for 3 days and two night stay. We paid RM 600++ and the house keeping service is not event 'served' the purpose of 'Resort City': The rooms should be clean and comfortable.  Thus, I wonder what characteristics does this 'Resort City' hold tight to?

However, the Water Park and Safari did 'try' very hard to served it function as 'the best' in the nation. But both is not included in that RM 600++. Thus, then it was a different story after all.

Hence, THE RESORT CITY has to  redefine as it failed to uphold the 'resort city' characteristic...at this moment.

Having said that, nevertheless, our family holidays still a moment to remember. The moment cherished in the Water Park and Safari ( excluded The Resort City) is another precious 'diamonds' time that is now locked safely in the cloud of memory.

Waterfront : A Walk Through Time

The main task here has been full fill. It was time for a break. A break that needed no stress and sweat but a little bit of exercise to ease the mind. Thus, a walked through the famous Waterfront, just a few steps from my hotel, was definitely a good choice.

The Waterfront located on Sarawak river: a riverside walk stretches a kilometer long, from the location of my hotel to downtown Kuching. Strolling along the riverside walkway, was like a walked through time. Experienced the local history and culture with a feeling of modern and ancient.

Build in 1993, this Waterfront also known as The People Place to the local. Beautiful and unique blend between modern fusions with traditional Sarawak cultures. It was indeed a phenomenal sight. A walk to remember.

Mee Kolok Sup

A Moment of Twilight in Kuala Perlis.

As we drove through the coastal area of Kuala Perlis, situated in Perlis state, which lies on the most northern west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, indeed has lots to offer. All we had to do was choose ‘the right place’: A place where we could experience the sunset while tasting a delicious food. But to choose ‘the right place’ was not an easy decision to make: a place that offered both, a good food with a package of breathtaking scenery.

As the orangey red sky melting into the edge of the blue sea, I know we had to make a quick decision if we wanted to dine before that beautiful ray of light lost below the horizon of the west.

Thus, experienced that atmospheric moment of twilight with the family before the dusk started to appear.

Manja 4, one of the many food stalls, along the coastal of Kuala Perlis, was our ‘right place’. Hence indeed the stall was ‘the right place’ to dine. It did offer the package that we looked for. The kuey teow I ordered was and still a thumb up. Delicious. Plus the atmospheric moment of twilight seen from Manja 4, received two thumbs up from me. Phenomenal.

I couldn’t ask for more except for the lower price of one plate of that delicious kuey teow, which reminded me of a plate of the same dish in Kuala Lumpur, a Metropolitan city. I guess that phenomenal moment, which I enjoyed with my family, is not free after all. The experience came with a price and  thus, included in the price of that delicious kuey teow.

One Of Those Memories: Bihun Soup.

Our journey home from Kedah, stopped at a very familiar place, which now has a different look. Bihun Sup Pak Mat, Simpang Ikan Lahar Mati (Pak Mat Bihun Soup) in Seberang Perai, or we call it Bihun Sup Lahaq Kepaq. The new stall situated a few meters back from its original place.

The river - at the 'back' of the stall.
Chicken rice was tasty too.
Sitting under the new stall: brick stall, my eyes searched for the old wooden stall with a zinc roof shelter, which once built nearby the small river. Nothing was there except for a big old tree that was familiar to my eyes. Sitting on a chair under the new roof with a tar floor, only then I realised that the space used to be the river I seek….half of it actually. Thus, I still could see the river beside that stall.

I have to admit, the place felt different. I missed the old place. The old stall. For me, the stall offered a sense of calmness and beauty from its view and its green surroundings. I was always mesmerised by the beautiful view of the paddy fields while indulging the tasty yellow noodle soup. The trees, the bushes and the grasses seem to be adding to a very soothing sight and environment. But, having said that, I also have to admit that the yellow bihun sup still taste the ‘same’. TASTY and a thumb up!
